Anyway, my next step is to move to an English speaking country in order to improve my awful English and then hopefully to get a job. Honestly the latter is infeasible given my technical skills (mostly Academic ones).
I'd like to receive some advices, these are the questions that are bouncing from one side to another of my mind:
- Where should I go? I think it's better don't go over Europe so I'm in front of two choices: London or Dublin?
- Why London or Dublin? Because my desire is to stay as long as possible in one of them and at the same time to get a job in my field (ICT market). In Ireland seems that there is a demand for ICT profiles, I also know that the current trend is moving down, so it's hard to get a job even for engineers with a good experience.
- Which accent is better to know and learn? English or Ireland?
- Dublin seems cheaper than London, for example in Dublin it 's used Euro as currency but in London there is the strongest pound !
- Where is easier to get a job Dublin or London ?, in other words where might I have more opportunities in the ICT market?
- How is the people in these cities?
Concern about London or Ireland I could go to another city too for example Manchester or Belfast, it isn't very important to go to one of these two capital my target is to stay over there as long as it's possible.
Any help is appreciated.
Thank you

Hard to say... I have lived for a while in Holland, Portugal and Spain, and now Stockholm, those are the places I know.
I heard that Cork in Ireland is also a popular destination to study English and then find a job. Dublin and London are full of Italians, I think you can easily find information in Internet.
About Irish English, it's a strooooong accent, but that you already know, I guess.
I talk American English, I have been learning it watching "Friends" thousand times ;-)
Good luck Puntino, but you will make it!
Thank you for your "good look", it seems you have learnt English mostly by yourself, haven't you ?
Well, I started to talk when I was in Holland (Erasmus time!!) and then I took one course... but that was for the basic. The best way is by watching movies, I'm sure about that!
For Ireland:
www.irlandando.it you know ;)
IMHO The best you cand do now is try to know wich are the free position in Ireland or in Uk with a job finder as Monster.ie and so on.
Ireland is the cheapest destination.
IMHO the right time to depart is October.
Why?
From march to september Ireland (as London too) youth from alla over the Europe (esterne Europe expecially) want a summer experience to improve their English.
So, this is not your goal.
You are looking for a long term experience, so IMHO it is better to depart in october or at the end of september cause from september to march you have many more chance to find what you are looking for.
What do you think about it Rob?
as usual a MADE a billion of mistakes :P
* In Ireland came youth from all over the Europe to find a Job *
Sorry for my ridiculous English :P
Top, it makes sense, but I really don't know anything about Ireland, I have never been there... but I heard about the East-european invasion ;-)
About Stockholm, the best is the summer instead, bacause the Swedes are lazy and they want to rest and travel, so there are a lot of 2 or 3 months jobs available!
Rob in your opinion is it possible to find a Job just for two or three weeks only?
I could depart for Stockholm last minute this august with the certainity to find a "short term" Job.
In Ireland and in Uk the eastern europe invasion in this period, means more competition to find even a casual Job...
Keep in touch (may be you have a Job for me...do you need somebody to cut your grass lawn?) loll
@Top
don't worry about your English, we are making progress step by step.
I know perfectly the situation in summer for schools, accommodations and so on.
I might even run the risk of not leaving at all !! At the moment I'm only a bigmouth !!
I'm forced to leave in this period because after my degree I don't want to loose time. What should I do until September if I don't leave now ?
You could take a deserved vacation in August and leave Italy in September.
IMHO is not a bad Idea...
A Iatt' p' fa ambress facett' e figl' cecat!
There are no money for both (holiday and course :(((
Vacation means even stay at home reading a book.
After a mad year as this.......
IMHO to use in the best way your resources €€€€€€ you have to depart when the chances are as highest is possible!
I don't know dear Top... I'm not so young and later I start and worse is for me...
Granpa you what is better for you.
and after all you are a soon multigraduated...fellow :P
See you soon :)
*you know what is better for you :P I MADE a mistake :P:P:P (as usual)
Go to Australia! Fabulous lifestyle, the Aussie dollar is going up and a surplus of jobs and apartments. You won't be sorry! Why stay in Europe - when there is so much more out there. I could even point you in the right direction to find a job :-)
I quote Raiha!
Australia gives many opportunities.
At first time are you interested in a work as picker?
for more info on Australia you can read this blog:
http://andreagrobberio.spaces.live.com/
Is not the kind of experience you wanna do but you can finde some good information if you wanna go away from Europe.
But I Know...you don't wanna go so far from Italy as first experience alone in a foreign country.
But the suggestion of Raiha is a good one.
Raiha what about Stockholm job market?
What about casual jobs???
Thank you for your advices Raiha! :)
Thank you Raiha for your advices,
I 'll reflect about..
Top, a 2 or 3 weeks job last minute in Stockholm is not easy to find now.
It's true, there are a lot of summer jobs, but you have to send the application months in advance... you know how slow they are!
Maybe as a waiter, but you need to speak Swedish 95% of the times.
But let me know if you are coming, I cannot give you a job (I dont have any garden ;-), but I can offer you a coffee!
Thank you Rob.
I'm just planning ahead again my vacation.
We had in program to visit Copenaghen but I lost my travel fellow...so I'm considering what to do.
From 2 of august to 9 I'll be in Policastro Gulf.
I want to do some trips around Italy (do windsurf on the garda's lake).
But if I find a low fare fly with rayn air may be I'll be in Stockholm for a week end.....
p.s. all the best Wishes to Puntino now Doctor, Engineer, Professor, direttoremegagalattico Puntino!!!
Hello! Opps! i forgot to subscribe to this stream and only noticed the questions below: please do not think i have been ignoring you :-) I think you have already checked my latest posts, but well the job market in Sweden is not friendly to immigrants: with unemployment over 8 percent and a surplus of highly educated unemployed, best bet would be Australia. Oh and you won't need to be a fruit picker either there :-) check out www.seek.com.au for a full listing on jobs!
please do not think i have been ignoring you :-)
oh not of course :)
Thank you for your advices
